I ran across a post in my feed today that lead me to OctPoWriMo, a poem a day writing challenge. It sounded like a fun thing to try so I began to ponder upon the suggested prompt word clouds. Unfortunately the neighbors across from me are having a new roof put on their house – by some very inconsiderate workers – and I’m only able to catch the moment I’m in, tanka-style.
morning-time to write
when I’m fresh thinking clearly
loud country tunes
from workers across the street
cloud my creativity
I’m not sure I’ll keep up with the entire challenge, especially if this roof takes long to finish!
We have new construction near us, too – definitely interrupts the silence.
Love the poem, though! A well-captured moment.

Haha, now that is one way to turn things around. And you even imbibed the prompt into this poem despite distractions 😁

Perfectly expressed. I understand about noise messing with the creative process but I do hope you will find a quiet corner somewhere and continue joining us for the OctPoWriMo Journey!

Love it! I have city workers replacing the sidewalk across my street. The smell of hot tar is not conducive to thinking poetic thoughts at all! 🙂
