Day 5 #OctPoWriMo

Day five of OctPoWriMo brings the thought of love and relationships. I don’t support there’s a person alive that’s not written at least one love poem at some point in their life. So this should be a fairly easy prompt, and yet, as the post suggests, love and relationships are so simple and complex at the same time that it isn’t always just that easy to capture their true essence in words.

The thought came to my mind, as I pondered in this, about the times in our lives when we know the answer to a question or situation we have in front of us. And yet we also know that the answer we have isn’t what our loved one wants or needs to hear. How do we respond to these situations?

words can wound the soul

some are better left unsaid

but not I love you

Hopefully we always respond in a a loving, caring way, one that edifies the other, putting their needs before our own.

“Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:3-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  1. Sincere and beautiful. The words ‘I love you’….have been diminished so much….but it’s still nice to hear them. Loved the Bible quote….the answer to all our problems. The Bible is the best psychology book ever written…great insights.
