Something’s Not Right #OctPoWriMo

For the 23rd day of OctPoWriMo we have the prompt “undoubtedly”; I used the word “acutely” instead. And considering it is quickly approaching Halloween I thought I’d do something a little spooky (or not LOL).

Something’s not right

She’s acutely aware

The scent of the forest

The feel of the air
She can’t see the

The thing that’s off

 But trusts her instincts

Though others may scoff
The sun’s setting fast

Soon it’ll be night

Time to move

Time to get outta sight
The others stayed

Despite her warning

And were no where

To see come morning

Winter Approaches #Tanka #OctPoWriMo

Today is the first day we have had that really feels fall-like in my neck of the woods; it’s cool, grey, and rainy. Soon the leaves will all be gone, bursts of color replaced by empty, dormant branches.

Fall color displayed

Trees painted mountains ablaze

Winter rain moves through

Winds cut foliage away

Grey landscape – winter draws near

Inspired by the weather and linked to the OctPoWriMo daily prompt
