I’m trying to stay ahead of the game, scheduling my posts a day in advance, in case I have trouble getting the time to make a post.
The prompt word for day three of OctPoWriMo is sparkling. I decided to write a haiku for this one using the kigo autumnal sky.
bright sparkling autumnal skystars illuminate
the old sailor’s journey home
This week Haiku Horizons offers up the word “cat” for the weekly prompt. Of late I’ve been trying to be a little more “traditional” in some of my haiku so I looked for a kigo with “cat” and sure enough “cats in love” is one! So, I thought I’d go with the traditional aspect and stretch for a little humor, too.
ear splitting shrieking
echoes through the still night air
cats in love – or heat
The verdict: Did I make it work (traditional and humorous)? I reckon the readers will let me know!
