Generosity #BeWoW #WritersQuoteWednesday #Quotes

I ran across a quote this weekend that struck me because it was so simple and yet so profound.

“Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need.”
Khalil Gibran

I’ll be honest: I didn’t recognize the name when I read it. It wasn’t until I read about him (click his name for more) that I realized he was such a well known writer and poet; he is the third best selling poet in history in fact.

This post is connected with both the BeWoW and Writers Quote Wednesday communities. Be sure to check them!

  1. Greg, I LOVE this quote! I have always said that life has been kind to us (my husband and I) because we always give more than we take. That goes for more than just material things, too. I am talking about being kind to others and helping whenever you can. You made me smile huge today!

I took no pictures of the snow removal process. It was ugly! 1 ft. plus drifts and there was a lot of huffing and puffing. We had to borrow a neighbor’s shovel. Once we got out of the driveway and off to the store we found out the entire area was sold out of shovels and snow blowers! Thank goodness for the sun and warm temperatures of 50 degrees. The snow is melting! 😀 I see a snow blower in our future! 😉

    1. I’m glad the post was more hospitable than the weather, Colleen! LOL I agree with it/you though, perhaps more so especially where the “other than material” things aspect.

You’re description of the “ugly” process made me smile; sorry to laugh at your pain LOL

      1. My non-believer (moron) neighbor and I were talking about how, with the power out, we had opportunity to read–he was reading a book on blogging. I suggested he could read a Bible… why do I do this?? I then had to listen to how he has one but it’s the New Living version, thus not “really” the Bible, and even the King James was a translation….he seriously should thank God I’ve let him live all these years below me….If he weren’t so much taller than I, I’d probably have cracked a Bible over his long-haired but balding head!
